Help with costs of visiting a child receiving inpatient care in hospital

You may be eligible for financial help with the cost of hospital visits of a young inpatient receiving care if you are the:

  • parent
  • primary carer
  • younger sibling (under 18)

This can include accommodation, food, and travel.

An inpatient is a patient who stays in the hospital while receiving care. You cannot apply for help with the costs of outpatient visits.

To apply, you must be a resident of Scotland and submit your request to the Young Patients Family Fund within three months of the young patient's release from the hospital.
