Overview

You might qualify for extra support if you get a disability payment from Social Security Scotland.

This includes benefits, services and extra payments to help with the cost of your:

  • care
  • housing
  • transport
  • travel

These are not added automatically. You, or someone responsible for you, can apply for them if you get either:

  • Child Disability Payment
  • Adult Disability Payment

You should try to apply as soon as you can. Organisations may not be able to backdate payments for all of the benefits and services if you wait too long. This means you could miss out on some of the extra support you’re entitled to.

Some of these benefits and services can affect other payments that you get. To find out what’s best for you and your household, you can ask local support services for help with benefits.
