What each PVG disclosure shows

Statement of Scheme Membership

All PVG disclosures have a Statement of Scheme Membership section. This section shows the type of regulated work you’re a member for. It confirms you’re not barred from doing that work.

It includes personal details, such as your:

  • name
  • address
  • date of birth
  • disclosure number
  • PVG membership number (16 digits)

You do not need your PVG membership number to apply for disclosures. It’s optional on the application.

The section also shows if you’re under consideration for listing for the type of regulated work the disclosure is for.

The other information that’s shown depends on what type of PVG disclosure it is:

  • Scheme Record and Existing Scheme Record
  • Scheme Record Update
  • Scheme Membership Statement

Scheme Record and Existing Scheme Record

Vetting information is included on Scheme Records and Existing Scheme Records under the following headings:

Convictions

This section shows unspent convictions and certain spent convictions. It includes details like the date of the conviction and the sentence you received (known as a disposal).

Cautions

This section has details of any unspent cautions you have.

Court orders and notification requirements

This section shows if you’re on the sex offenders register and any prescribed court orders you have.

Other Relevant Information

This section has any other information provided by the police which they think is relevant to the type of regulated work you’re doing.

There’s guidance to help you if you have convictions and you’re applying for a job. There’s also guidance for employers to help them consider disclosures fairly, including free training.

Scheme Record Update

Scheme Record Updates have a Statement of Scheme Membership section. They do not include vetting information.

If you apply for a Scheme Record Update and there’s vetting information on your record, you’ll be issued with a Scheme Record instead at no extra cost. The Scheme Record will show the vetting information.

Scheme Membership Statement

Scheme Membership Statements have a Statement of Scheme Membership section. They do not include vetting information.
