If your organisation works with children or protected adults, your employees may be eligible for the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme.

The PVG scheme helps ensure that people who are unsuitable to work with children and protected adults cannot do 'regulated work' with them. People who are barred from working with these groups cannot join the scheme.

If you have employees or volunteers doing regulated work, you have a duty to report harmful behaviour to Disclosure Scotland.

You can register your organisation with Disclosure Scotland to get PVG checks for your employees.

By registering you’ll become what’s known as a ‘registered body’. Registered bodies can check their employees’ PVG disclosures to:

  • make sure they’re still allowed to do the type of work they're doing
  • help decide if they're suitable for the type of work they're doing
