Moving to England, Wales or Northern Ireland

If you move to England, Wales or Northern Ireland you'll no longer be able to get Social Security Scotland assistance.

You need to tell Social Security Scotland when you move.

If you're already receiving Child Disability Payment you will continue to receive this for up to 13 weeks after you move.

If you do not tell Social Security Scotland about your move within 13 weeks, your payments will stop. If Child Disability Payment stops this could affect anyone claiming Carer’s Allowance for the child. It could also affect eligibility for other benefits or assistance.

Find out how to let Social Security Scotland know that you’ve moved.

Other help you might get

If you move permanently to England, Wales or Northern Ireland you might be eligible for Disability Living Allowance for Children (if you are under 16) or Personal Independence Payment (if you are 16 or over).

If you might be eligible it’s important to apply as soon as you have moved or you could miss out on help you're entitled to.
