Sending documents to Social Security Scotland

Supporting information for Scottish Adult DLA reviews

During a review, in some cases, Social Security Scotland may need supporting information such as documents have at home. This will help them to make a decision.

This supporting information can be provided by someone who understands how your condition affects you day to day.

This could be a:

  • professional person involved in your treatment or care
  • member of your wider support network, like a family member or friend

Find out more about examples of supporting information, who can provide it and when you can send it.

If you do not have supporting information to hand

You should still submit your review form. Social Security Scotland will contact you if they decide they need supporting information. You'll then have 28 days to gather it yourself.

If you need help gathering supporting information, Social Security Scotland can gather it on your behalf.

Contact Social Security Scotland if:

  • you're unsure what information to give them
  • you do not know where to find the information

Social Security Scotland only needs to see information about changes. There’s no need to send a document again if they've already seen it.

If you tell Social Security Scotland nothing has changed, they may still need to ask you for supporting information as part of your review.
