Guide
Register your organisation with Disclosure Scotland
Why register with Disclosure Scotland?
If your organisation employs people in certain types of work, you may want them to:
- be a member of the PVG Scheme
- have Standard disclosure
- have Enhanced disclosure
If any of these apply, you may want to check their record to help you decide if they're suitable for the work you want them to do. If PVG applies, you should check their record to make sure they're still allowed to do regulated work.
To be able to countersign employee or volunteer disclosure application forms, you need to register your organisation with Disclosure Scotland.
Another option is to enrol with a registered body (known as an umbrella body), which can sign applications on your behalf.
Employer responsibilities
An employer can check:
- the PVG Scheme record of their employees to make sure they're still allowed to do the type of work they're doing
- the Standard or Enhanced disclosure record of their employees to help them decide if they're suitable for the type of work they're doing
Employers can request this information, but they also need to make sure they handle it properly to protect the rights and privacy of the people involved.
