If you're awarded Carer Support Payment, it may help you get more money from other benefits.

Universal  Credit

The Department for Work and Pensions will reduce your Universal Credit by the same amount as you get from Carer Support Payment. But you might be eligible for the carer's element of Universal Credit. This would give you more money overall.

Pension Credit

If you care for another adult, you might be able to get an extra amount on top of your Pension Credit.

Council Tax reduction

You might be able to get a reduction on your Council Tax bill.

What else you can get

Being awarded Carer Support Payment may also help you get:

You do not need to apply for any of these.

Social Security Scotland will also automatically award you Scottish Carer Supplement if you get Carer Support Payment.

If you provide care for 20 hours or more a week, you can apply for Carer's Credit at GOV.UK.

If you care for more than one person, you might also be able to get Carer Additional Person Payment.

If you're aged 16 to 19

If you provide care for 16 hours a week on average, you may be able to get Young Carer Grant. You can get Young Carer Grant before Carer Support Payment. If you're already getting Carer Support Payment, you will not be able to get Young Carer Grant.

Other support for carers

Whether or not you get Carer Support Payment, there's other help and support you may be able to get. This includes:
