Social Security Scotland need to know about changes so they can: 

  • make sure you’re paid the right amount
  • contact you about your Scottish Adult Disability Living Allowance (Scottish Adult DLA)

Find out more about the types of changes that Social Security Scotland need to know about. 

You need to tell Social Security Scotland about changes if:

  • you’re already receiving Scottish Adult DLA
  • your award has completed the move from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Disability Living Allowance (DLA) to Scottish Adult DLA

You will know your DLA has moved to Social Security Scotland once you’ve got a letter called ‘Your DLA has moved to Social Security Scotland’. 

If something changes before or during the move

Tell DWP if your details or circumstances change before you get a letter called 'Your DLA has moved to Social Security Scotland'.

If your award has not yet moved from DWP, or is in the process of moving, find out more about reporting a change and what happens next.

It’s important that you tell Social Security Scotland about any changes so they can make sure you continue to get the right rate of payment for your needs. 

If you do not tell Social Security Scotland about a change that could affect your award, you may be committing an offence under section 72 of the Social Security Scotland Act 2018.
