Call Social Security Scotland free on 0800 182 2222 to get help reporting a change. The opening times are Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm.

If you need to contact Social Security Scotland from outside the UK call +44 (0) 138 293 1000. This call is not free but you can ask them to call you back. Check with your phone provider for details of charges.

If you want to tell Social Security Scotland in a language other than English

Call Social Security Scotland free on 0800 182 2222 to tell them about a change in circumstances in any of over 100 languages, including:

  • Urdu
  • Polish
  • Scottish Gaelic
  • many of the other languages used in Scotland

The opening times are Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.

If you need extra support with disability or carer benefits, contact Advocacy.Scot. They’re independent from Social Security Scotland.

An advocate will listen to you and try to understand your point of view and what you want to happen. They can help you apply for benefits and make decisions. You’ll still make any final decisions.
