What you need to apply for an under 22s bus pass
What you need to apply
To apply, you'll need:
-
a laptop, tablet, phone or other device with a camera
-
proof of address, such as a bank statement or driving license
-
proof of identity, such as a birth certificate or passport
-
a photo of the young person, if they’re 11 or older
-
proof of relationship, if applying for someone else
Young people aged 16 to 21 will apply for a bus pass themselves. If the young person is aged 5 to 15, a parent, guardian, or carer will need to apply on their behalf.
If you’re applying for someone else, you’ll need proof of address and identity for both of you.
Find out what you can use as proof of identity on NEC.scot.
To apply online for someone else, you’ll need proof of relationship such as:
-
full birth certificate
-
adoption certificate
-
something that shows you’re the main person looking after your child
If you do not have proof of relationship, you’ll need to apply through your local council.
If you’re applying online, it's easier if you have scans or photos of your documents before you start.
If you do not have the documents you need
Apply through your local council if you do not have these documents, or are unsure if the council will accept them.
