Using your older persons bus pass

Buses

You can use your bus pass to get a ticket in advance or on the bus. You need to collect advance tickets in person.

When you get on the bus place your card on the electronic machine with your photo facing up.

If there's not an electronic ticket machine show your card to the driver.

Tell the driver your stop. The driver will help you if you need it.

You can only use your current bus pass. If you use an old or cancelled card, it will not work, and you will have to pay the bus fare.

Trams

You can travel for free on Edinburgh trams if the City of Edinburgh Council issued your bus pass.

You cannot use bus passes issued by other councils on tram services, unless you are blind or visually impaired.

Get further information on travelling by tram in Edinburgh on the Transport for Edinburgh website.
