Who can get Carer's Allowance Supplement
To get Carer's Allowance Supplement you must:
- live in Scotland on a particular date or have a genuine and sufficient link to Scotland
- be getting Carer Support Payment or Carer's Allowance payments on a particular date
The person you care for does not have to live in Scotland.
Dates
If you're getting Carer Support Payment or Carer's Allowance on 8 April 2024, you'll get a Carer's Allowance Supplement payment in June 2024.
If you're getting Carer Support Payment or Carer's Allowance on 7 October 2024, you'll get a Carer's Allowance Supplement payment in December 2024.
If you did not get a Carer’s Allowance Supplement payment in December 2023, you’ll get this payment in June 2024 if either:

you were getting Carer's Allowance on 9 October 2023

your award for Carer's Allowance or Carer Support Payment was backdated to 9 October 2023
Carer Support Payment is replacing Carer's Allowance in Scotland. It's available in some parts of Scotland from 20 November 2023.

If you do not get Carer Support Payment or Carer's Allowance
You must get Carer Support Payment or Carer's Allowance to get Carer's Allowance Supplement. If you want to, you can find out more about what benefits you could get.
Some people do not get Carer's Allowance because they get other benefits instead. This is called an 'underlying entitlement'.
You will not get Carer's Allowance Supplement if you have an underlying entitlement to Carer Support Payment or Carer's Allowance.
