If a builder is doing the work for you
It's your responsibility to make sure the builder follows Scottish building standards. Check this with them before work starts.
Find out if the work needs a building warrant. If it does, make sure they have one.
If you need a building warrant and do not get one, your local council can fine you. They can also order you to remove the new building work.
