Property factor fees

Your property factor sets its own fees. These are not set or approved by the Scottish Government.

Costs will depend on:

  • your building
  • the services in your written statement
  • contractor costs

Factors usually charge:

  • a regular management fee
  • a float for routine repairs
  • a maintenance fund for bigger repairs

At least once a year, your factor must give you a financial statement showing what was spent and what work was done.

If you’re concerned about fees

Speak to your factor and ask for an explanation.

You can make a complaint, then apply to the tribunal if you believe:

  • you were charged for services that the factor did not provided
  • the fees differ from the written statement
  • the fees go against your title deeds

Check how to make a complaint about a factor.
