If you're leasing a vehicle through the Accessible Vehicles and Equipment Scheme

If you're leasing a vehicle through the Accessible Vehicles and Equipment Scheme, your lease will continue for its duration if you've both:

  • moved from Child Disability Payment to Adult Disability Payment
  • been awarded the enhanced rate mobility component of Adult Disability Payment

To pay your lease Social Security Scotland will:

  • stop using the mobility component of your Child Disability Payment
  • start using the mobility component of your Adult Disability Payment

If only part of your mobility component is used for the lease, you’ll continue to be paid the remaining benefit.

If you’re not awarded the enhanced rate mobility component

Social Security Scotland will let your provider know. Your provider will contact you about how this will impact your lease.

If you do not agree with the decision, you can apply for a re-determination.

Motability offers financial support for clients who are not awarded enhanced mobility when they move to Adult Disability Payment.
