Crofting Commission elections

The Crofting Commission encourages crofters to understand their legal responsibilities.

Every 5 years, 1 board member is elected from each constituency in the electoral area. These are:

  • East Highlands
  • Orkney and Caithness
  • Shetland
  • South West Highlands
  • West Highlands
  • Western Isles

Vote in Crofting Commission elections

You can vote in Crofting Commission elections if you:

  • are aged 16 or over
  • appear in the Register of Crofts as a crofter
  • are registered at an address in 1 of the 6 constituencies

You can only vote by postal vote for this election. Ballots are sent to people on the Register of Crofts.

Each croft is allowed 1 vote. Owners of more than 1 croft will only be able to vote once.
