To keep your business and staff safe online it's important you take steps to protect your website and networks.

There's no single way of protecting your website or networks. But common advice includes:

• using strong passwords and user accounts
• training staff about online threats
• using firewalls and security software
• installing software updates
• backing up your systems
• having a business continuity plan

If your business's website or networks have been hacked or become infected by a virus, you should report this to Police Scotland:

• by telephone 999 (emergency) 101 (non-emergency)
• in person at any police station
