Get a self-build loan in Scotland

The Scotland Self-Build Loan Fund will now run for up to 5 years and offer loans of up to £175,000 to help with construction funding for self-build projects.

Funding is available for projects in both urban and rural areas.

Who can apply

You'll need to make sure that you:

  • show that you cannot access standard bank lending to cover construction costs
  • own a plot of land to build on or have a contract to buy the land
  • have planning permission and a building warrant in place to allow work to start

The fund cannot be used to cover the cost of buying land.

How to apply

You can apply online on the Communities Housing Trust website.
