How to apply for a Blue Badge
If you’re applying for someone because they are at risk in traffic you must contact your local council. You cannot apply online.
Most people can apply for a Blue Badge at GOV.UK.
You can apply for:
- yourself
- someone you look after
- your organisation
You can also ask your local council for a paper form if you prefer.
How long it takes to get a Blue Badge
Most local councils take around 12 weeks to make a decision but it can take longer. Check with your local council to find out their current waiting times.
If you have a terminal illness and have a BASRiS or DS1500 form then your council will look at your application more quickly.
Who decides if you can get a Blue Badge
Your local council decides if you can get a Blue Badge.
If you do not automatically qualify for a Blue Badge they may ask you to:
- give them documents about your condition
- have a mobility assessment
If you need help to apply ask your local council.
