His Majesty’s Inspectorate for Education (HMIE) carries out regular inspections in Scotland on:

• nurseries
• schools
• other education settings, such as colleges or voluntary organisations

You can view inspection reports on the HMIE wesbite.

Search for a report

You can search by:

• school name
• local authority area
• postcode
• organisation type (such as school or nursery)
• school type (primary, secondary, nursery, Gaelic education or special)
• funding type (state funded, independent, grant aided)

Using the inspection report

Inspection reports can help if you:

• are choosing a school for your child
• want to see how your child’s school is performing

HMIE removes reports from its website after 5 years. Contact HMIE to request a copy of an older report.
