Grants and loans are available up to £2,000 or 50% of training costs, whichever is lower.
South Lanarkshire Council’s Business Development Team offers a range of discretionary grants and loans targeted towards micro, small and medium-sized businesses. The projects covered must increase turnover, profit or the number of employees.
Grants are available up to £3,000 or 50% of the eligible costs, whichever is lower, and are to be used towards external training costs – provided that training is not eligible for SDS’s Flexible Training Opportunities. It must be non-statutory and not core to the business. Examples would be gaining a quality accreditation or ecommerce skills to help the business grow.
The grant will not support the following activities:
- Training that is required by legislation or legislative compliance or training that is core to the operations of the business.
- Training that is required in order to maintain professional qualifications, accreditations or standards. This will include CPD compliance.
- Exam fees, travelling and subsidence.
Businesses in South Lanarkshire of any sizes can apply to the scheme.
Applicants are required to cover the remaining 50% of the costs of training themselves.
