Children and young people's rights

While everyone in Scotland has human rights, children and young people have their own set of special rights too.

These are a set of promises that make sure they're treated fairly and looked after properly.

Children's rights are listed in a document called the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Scotland has a Children and Young People's Commissioner – it's their role to make sure these rights are protected.

Visit the Children and Young People's Commissioner Scotland website for a list of these rights, along with explanations to make each of them easier to understand.
