Treating and recycling waste batteries

You must apply for a waste management licence to treat or recycle portable batteries. You can apply for a licence on the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) website.

For industrial and car batteries you must apply to SEPA to be an approved battery treatment operator.
