Apply for a coat of arms

You can apply for a Scottish coat of Arms if you:

live in Scotland
own a house in Scotland
own land in Scotland

To apply for a coat of Arms, you must send a 'petition' to the Court of the Lord Lyon and ask for Arms to be granted.

If you don't live in Scotland, you may be able to apply for Arms in the name of an ancestor who lived in Scotland. You'll need to provide proof of ancestry.
