Apply for or renew a Blue Badge in Scotland
Disabled parking permits are also known as 'Blue Badges'.
The same process is administered to all applications, whether you are:
- making a new application
- renewing your existing Blue Badge
Your council is responsible for the administration, eligibility assessments and enforcement of the Blue Badge scheme.
Apply or renew online
If you apply or renew online, you'll be asked a few eligibility questions. Once you've applied, your form will be sent to your local council for a decision.
What you'll need to apply online:
- National Insurance number or NHS Number
- driving licence number
- a passport photo
- details of your current badge, if you have one
Contact your local council
Some local councils prefer you to apply or renew online and some let you apply in person at a local office.
Councils have the option to charge up to £20 for the issue of a badge. You should ask your local council if there's a charge before you make an application.

You can track your application online. You'll need the tracking reference number you were given when the application was submitted.

If your application is not successful
If you are unsuccessful in your application for a blue badge and want to request a review, you need to contact your local council.
