How can we create an organisational culture that truly embraces effective two-way dialogue between workers and leadership?
Employer response
Two-way dialogue has become central to our culture at ACS. We hold regular cross-department forums where staff can raise ideas directly with senior management, supported by anonymous feedback channels for those less comfortable speaking up. Managers are trained to respond transparently and close the loop by sharing outcomes from staff input. This open dialogue has led to practical process improvements, safety innovations, and new social initiatives – and it has helped build trust and alignment between teams and leadership.
Our policies have fair working practices embedded in them, but we’re not seeing real change. How do we embed people processes into our organisational culture?
At Connect Three, we’ve learned that embedding Fair Work isn’t about having the right policies it’s about creating a culture where those principles are actively lived every day. We involve our team in shaping and reviewing our people policies, ensuring they reflect lived experience and shared ownership rather than top down decisions. Fair Work principles are built into our monthly 1:1s, team check-ins, and performance conversations, helping to keep them front of mind in how we lead and make decisions.
Our wellbeing initiatives such as mental health first aiders, wellbeing days, and team-wide wellness challenges, further strengthen trust and inclusion by supporting people to bring their whole selves to work. This people first approach has helped us achieve B Corp certification, Inspiring Workplaces recognition, and Great Place to Work certification, external validations of the culture we’ve built through embedding Fair Work at the heart of everything we do.
