Refunds for disclosures

Disclosure Scotland will only give you a refund if:

  • they cannot process your disclosure application after you've given them all the information they need
  • they send you an incorrect disclosure and you do not want a corrected one
  • you make a credit/debit card payment online through Disclosure Scotland's payment portal when filling in a paper application, but do not send the paper application within 21 days of paying
  • you're a countersignatory whose organisation has paid by card for an application for an individual, and the link to that application has expired

You cannot get a refund if:

  • you do not need a disclosure anymore
  • you were not offered the post that you needed the disclosure for
  • it takes longer than you expected to get your disclosure
  • you want to leave the PVG scheme
  • you're not allowed to become a member of the PVG scheme
  • Disclosure Scotland refuses a registration or countersignatory nomination
  • you're an applicant and you do not share your disclosure with your employer
  • you do not access your account within 28 days of your disclosure being available to view
  • you requested a review of your disclosure and are not satisfied with the outcome of the review
  • inaccurate information is provided on the application - it's the customer’s responsibility to ensure information is as accurate as possible
