Tell your landlord about problems with your tenancy documents

Use this service to create a letter to send your landlord because they’ve either:

  • given you the wrong paperwork for a private residential tenancy
  • included unfair terms in the tenancy agreement

Check the tenancy paperwork a landlord must give you for a private residential tenancy.

If you’re unsure if you have a private residential tenancy, check what type of tenancy you have.

What the letter tells your landlord

The letter gives your landlord 28 days’ notice to put things right.

It warns them you can apply to the First-tier Tribunal (Housing and Property Chamber) if they do not.

Check what the tribunal can do if your landlord gives you the wrong tenancy documents.
