If a private landlord wants to end your tenancy or evict you
There are rules your landlord must follow if they want to end your tenancy, including:
- the reasons they can use – called eviction grounds
- the notice period they must give you
- the form they must use to give you written notice
The rules they must follow depend on the type of tenancy you have.
If you do not move out by the end of the notice period, they can apply for an eviction order.
If you’re being harassed into leaving
It could be an illegal eviction if your landlord harasses you into leaving. Get advice on illegal eviction from Shelter Scotland.
If you cannot find somewhere else to live
If you must leave and cannot find a new home, you can get homeless help from your local council.
