If the rent cap rises

The rent cap is expected to be set at 3% until 31 March 2024 at the latest. Scottish Ministers can change the level of the rent cap at any time while it is in force. The Scottish Parliament would also need to agree to any change.

You will have to follow the rules which apply to increasing the rent for the type of tenancy your tenant has, including the rules about how often you can increase the rent.

Your tenant can apply to Rent Service Scotland to check that any proposed rent increase does not go over the rent cap.
