How to apply
Making a PVG application is a two-stage process:
1. An organisation needs to start the application for you.
2. You then get an email with a link to complete the application.
Organisations need to start PVG applications for individuals. You cannot apply without an organisation.
There's a different process if you're self-employed and work for an individual.
Sharing your disclosure
After the application is processed you’ll get a disclosure, which you can share with the organisation you’re applying with. This allows them to continue the recruitment process.
Rules about disclosures
There are rules about using disclosures. It’s a criminal offence to misuse a disclosure. For example, using another person’s disclosure as your own, or forging a disclosure.
Organisations must use disclosures in line with Disclosure Scotland's Code of Practice and accredited body guidance.
Personal information
A disclosure contains sensitive personal information. It should not be used as evidence of a person's identity.
Report inaccurate information
A disclosure shows the information available on the day it was issued. If you think there’s inaccurate information on it, let Disclosure Scotland know within 3 months of when it was issued.
