PVG for employers
Last updated: 7 May 2020

Voluntary organisations

There is a fee to join the PVG scheme which can be paid by either the scheme member or their employer. However, if you're working as a volunteer and not being paid, you may be able to get a PVG certificate for free.

Ministers have suspended fees for urgent disclosures for coronavirus (COVID-19) response workers. You do not have to pay for forms emailed before midnight on Friday 12 June 2020.

If the organisation is a Qualifying Voluntary Organisation (QVO), they can tick a box on the PVG application form which qualifies them for a free certificate.

Find out how to be approved as a QVO.

If the organisation doesn't meet the requirements to be a QVO, PVG checks have to be paid for, even for volunteers.
