Payments

Your Adult Disability Payment will be the same amount as you get for Personal Independence Payment (PIP), unless you've told DWP about a change to your health condition.

You’ll be paid on the same day, unless your condition has changed and you now qualify under the special rules for terminal illness. There will be no gap in your payments.

Overpayments

You may be responsible for paying back any Social Security Scotland payments made by mistake.

If you or the person you’re acting for is paid too much, Social Security Scotland may:

  • ask you or them to pay it back
  • reduce or stop their payments

If you've been overpaid by the Department for Work and Pensions, then you'll need to get in touch with them to work this out. Any repayment will go to them, not Social Security Scotland. If you're paying back an overpayment to DWP, then this will continue, even when your benefit's moved to Social Security Scotland.

If you need a copy of your award letter

You can contact Social Security Scotland if you:

  • need a copy of your award letter
  • have any worries about payments while your PIP moves to Adult Disability Payment
