Check if you need to apply

You might need to apply for Pension Age Winter Heating Payment if:

• you've deferred your State Pension since you were last paid Pension Age Winter Heating Payment or the Winter Fuel Payment
• you're a couple with a joint award for Pension Credit, Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA), Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), Income Support or Universal Credit and the main person getting that benefit is under State Pension age

If you’re eligible and none of these apply to you, you’ll be paid automatically.

We can consider late applications if you have a good reason for missing the deadline. If this is the case, contact Social Security Scotland.
