Disclosure Scotland

Disclosure Scotland helps employers make safer decisions when they're recruiting people. It also makes sure unsuitable people don't work with vulnerable groups, including children.

Find out more about how we work and our corporate publications. Publications also include our board and committee minutes.

If you live in Scotland, find out how to apply for our types of disclosure.

Due to coronavirus (COVID-19), Disclosure Scotland has invoked business continuity plans to prevent any disruption to our safeguarding services.

We are prioritising checks for those working in health and care sectors. Ministers have also suspended fees for urgent disclosures for coronavirus (COVID-19) response workers. You do not have to pay for forms emailed before midnight on Friday 12 June 2020.

This may mean applications for people working in other sectors take longer than expected.

A Bill has been introduced that may make disclosure legislation simpler and less confusing. Find out about the Disclosure (Scotland) Bill.

If you live in England or Wales, apply for your criminal record check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
