Overview

If you're renting your home from a private landlord or letting agency, there are some situations that might lead to you being evicted.

If you're evicted, this means you have to move out of the home and find somewhere else to live.

You have to be given a notice period before you're evicted, so you have time to prepare.

The process you and your landlord have to go through will depend on whether you have an assured tenancy, a short assured tenancy or a private residential tenancy.

If you do not know which type of tenancy you have, use the tenancy checker on the Shelter Scotland website.
