Removal from the property factor register
The Scottish Government only removes a property factor from the register in the most serious cases.
For example, for repeated breaches or severe failures that pose a real risk to homeowners.
Before removal can happen
The register team always work with factors to help them meet the required standards before removal.
Before considering removal, the register team will:
- contact you
- explain the concerns
- give you the chance to respond
The Scottish Government can now request documents from you and do inspections. These checks help the register team resolve issues before they make any decision.
After removal
If you are removed from the register, you cannot provide factoring services anywhere in Scotland.
You can appeal to the sheriff court within 21 days of receiving our decision.
