National annual awards scheme, with a financial element, highlighting the efforts, achievements and stories of the top franchisees in the UK.
The bfa HSBC Franchisee of the Year, chosen from the winners of the sub award categories, receives £5,000 courtesy of HSBC. Each of the category winners receives a commemorative trophy and £500 from HSBC.
With national, regional and trade press opportunities, the Awards programmes last year secured a PR value in excess of £660,000.
The Franchisee Awards celebrate the successes of franchisees from all corners of the UK.
The organiser of the Awards is the British Franchise Association (bfa). The sponsors are HSBC Bank plc and Express Newspapers. The Promoter is Consolidated PR.
Entrants may enter one franchisee in up to three categories. Alternatively they can enter a different franchisee for each of the categories.
- B2B Franchisee of the Year
- Customer Service Franchisee of the Year
- Female Franchisee of the Year
- Micro Business Franchisee of the Year
- Olderpreneur Franchisee of the Year (over 55)
- Young Franchisee of the Year (under 30)
Although there are no specific exclusions cited within the programme's guidelines, those wishing to apply are advised to liaise with the main sponsor in the first instance to discuss eligibility.
Franchise companies located in the UK may enter these awards. Participants can enter up to five franchisees – one for each of the bfa’s five regions:
- London/South East.
- South West & South Wales.
- Midlands & North Wales.
- Scotland & Northern Ireland.
Match funding is not a stipulated requirement of this scheme.
Business development and promotion.
This programme operates on an annual basis.
The scheme is currently closed. The 2017 entry deadline was 5pm on Friday 7 April 2017. Details and deadline information for any future rounds will be reported when available.
The Franchisor is permitted to nominate one Franchisee per region and all entries must be on the official Entry Form, signed by an accredited representative of both the Franchisor and the Franchisee.
From all entries, the judges will select regional semi-finalists – all of whom will be notified by post. Regional finalists will be selected from the regional semi-finalists and notified by post. Regional and national winners will be selected from the regional finalists.
Regional finalists will be required to attend an interview with the judging panel in London in the summer depending on region, following which the winners will be determined. A maximum of three representatives of the business may attend the judging session.
The winners will be announced at a black-tie event in the summer.
