You may feel overwhelmed and unsure of what to do. There are a range of organisations available that can help you take control of your own life and focus on the future.

Many of these organisations provide help, support and advice on things like:

  • counselling
  • safe accommodation
  • emotional support
  • financial help
  • finding work and education
  • health and childcare
  • visas

Provides confidential information and support to anyone affected by forced marriage or domestic abuse.

The Forced Marriage Unit offers advice to anyone living in the UK, whatever their nationality. It also helps British nationals who are facing forced marriage abroad.

Provides support, advocacy, refuge and information to all black and minority ethnic women, young people and children experiencing or escaping from forced marriage, domestic abuse or honour based violence.

Supports the mental health and well-being of black and minority ethnic women in Scotland.

AMINA Muslim Women's Resource Centre

Provides counselling, befriending and advice services to help Muslim women live better and safer lives, free from discrimination and abuse.

Hemat Gryffe Women's Aid

Provides advice, support and safe temporary refuge accommodation for Asian, black and minority ethnic women and young people who are experiencing, or who have experienced, forced marriage, domestic abuse or honour based violence.

Scottish Women's Aid

Provides advice, support and safe accommodation for women (and their children) who have been abused by their partner or ex-partner. They can recommend local groups.

Victim Support Scotland

Provides information and support for victims and witnesses of crime.

Rape Crisis Scotland

Provides a rape crisis helpline and email support for anyone affected by sexual violence. They can also put you in touch with local rape crisis centres or other services for ongoing support.

Provides confidential advice and support to women (in a safe, comfortable, women-only environment) and crisis intervention on forced marriage, domestic abuse, family crises and honour based violence.
