Support available to enable employers in Fife to recruit young people aged 16-24.
The scheme can provide up to 52 weeks wage subsidy of up to £4.98/hr per typical 36 hr week to businesses recruiting unemployed young people aged 16-24.
Pre recruitment training over two days to support young people with interview skills and assessments to meet employer criteria and requirements can also be provided.
Support is provided by Fife Council. The Fife Youth Job Contract has been established with the aim of increasing the number of young people in employment in Fife by engaging with employers to encourage them to open up employment opportunities that would not normally exist without programme support.
The programme offers three strands of support to employers and young people:
- Recruitment of employer vacancies, Modern Apprenticeships.
- Recruitment into employer vacancies, non-apprenticeship jobs.
- Recruitment of young people into Training Academy to work within employer networks.
The programme will support employers with the recruitment of young people by providing a human resource element and by posting vacancies on the Opportunities Fife website. The programme can help pay for the young person’s wages for limited period of time and make a contribution towards training costs.
The academy route is designed to help young people who are not quite ready/able to secure an apprenticeship or job but with some additional support through working with an employer they can be made ready for this transition.
Contact the provider for details of any restrictions associated with the programme.
Support is available to businesses in Fife who recruit an unemployed young person aged 16-24.

In order for an employer to access financial support, they are required to submit a business case that outlines the company details, how much financial support they require and long term employment opportunities.
