Prize awarded every two years to drug prevention projects that fully involve young people, either in the development and implementation of activities, the decision making, the project management or the evaluation.
Three prize-winners each receive a trophy, a diploma and a prize-money of €5,000.
The European Drug Prevention Prize is awarded every two years to active youth drug prevention projects. Its objective is to recognize the importance of active youth participation in creating a better and healthier environment.
Projects that are not concerned with drug prevention are not eligible.
Interdiction (the control of supply by law enforcement, etc.) and treatment activities are not eligible activities for the Prize.
Government sponsored, private sector and community-run projects by non-governmental organisations (NGOs) are eligible.
Projects must meet the following criteria:
- Be run by more than one person and have some formal structure.
- Be currently running, or have recently finished, in one or more of the Council of Europe member States, Pomidou Group member States, observer States, and members of the Pompidou Group's Mediterranean network for co-operation on drugs and addictions.
Submissions are made when the Prize is open. The Prize runs every two years.

Applications submitted by post or fax will NOT be considered; however, supporting material can be submitted by email, electronic link, or if necessary, by post.
Applications must be submitted in English or French. Entries are judged by a Jury composed of seven young people from Pompidou Group and Council of Europe member States.
