European awards programme to recognise small and medium sized biotechnology enterprises demonstrating significant innovative performance.
Three winners receive a prize of €10,000 each and two years free membership of EuropaBio. Runners-up receive two years free membership of EuropaBio.
EuropaBio is the European Association for Bioindustries, created in 1996 to represent the biotechnology industries at the EU level and promote an innovative and dynamic biotechnology industry in Europe.
Members of EuropaBio are typically involved in the research, development, testing, manufacture and commercialisation of biotechnology products and processes over a wide range of topics, including human health and animal care, diagnostics, bio-informatics, chemicals, crop protection, agriculture, food and environmental products and services.
The Most Innovative Biotech Award is made to recognise the SME that has best demonstrated innovation and forward business planning in the development of innovative solutions to address technical, social or environmental problems.
Application is open to SME companies operating within the biotechnology sector in EU Member States.
Businesses must qualify as a small or medium sized enterprise (SME):
- Fewer than 250 employees.
- Annual turnover of less than €50 million or annual balance sheet less than €43 million.
- No more than 25% of capital voting rights owned by an organisation that does not qualify as an SME.
The innovative idea or products must solve and tackle some of society’s biggest environmental, technical or social challenges for the future.
There are three categories for 2017:
- Industrial biotech.
Submissions are made via an online application process on the Award website. An offline version for internal preparation before online submission is also available.
