A competition to enable 13 entrepreneurs from across Scotland to take part in the MIT Entrepreneurship Development Programme in Boston, Massachusetts.
The award is worth approximately £8,100 and will cover 70% of the costs.
The Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) is a globally-renowned business executive education course which covers the entire enterprise creation process.
Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) and Scottish Enterprise (SE) will sponsor 13 places on EDP 2017 for businesses from across Scotland. The places will go to ambitious entrepreneurs in order for them to attend the course in Boston in 2017, with 70% funding to meet course costs, travel fees and accommodation. The course is aimed at giving entrepreneurs the knowledge they need in order to develop ideas into successful businesses and develop themselves as business leaders.
Although there are no specific exclusions cited within the programme guidelines, those wishing to apply are advised to liaise with the funding provider in the first instance to discuss eligibility.
The course is aimed at entrepreneurs with an influential role in:
- an established company that has been operating for more than three years with an annual turnover of at least £50,000, and which is account managed by either HIE or SE; or
- a new entrepreneurial company less than three years old which is neither pre-revenue or has an annual turnover of less than £50,000, and is supported by HGSU, Informatics Ventures or Edinburgh BioQuarter.
Participants will be required to provide 30% of costs from their own resources, which is approximately £2,300.
The award covers the following costs:
- Course fees.
- Return travel.
- Accommodation for 10 days.
- Attendance at any other networking events.
This scheme is currently closed to applications. The last deadline for applications was 16 September 2016. Information regarding future deadlines will be given once available.
Applicants must have the support of their account manager and will be required to submit a supporting statement from them to clarify this on receipt of their application form.
Interviews will take place either in Inverness (17 and 18 October 2016) or Edinburgh (19 and 20 October 2016). Applicants will be advised of the panel's decision by 27 October 2016.
Applicants will be required to participate in a mandatory pre-EDP briefing and networking session in Edinburgh on 29 November 2016. Selected participants must be available to travel to Boston on 19 January 2017 and to return on 28 January 2017 at the very earliest.
