A competition aimed at finding and rewarding the most promising and innovative technology industry start-up companies, design groups, students and academics from around the UK.
The selected ten finalists will pitch their ideas, technologies and innovative products to an elite judging panel of business leaders from Google, BT, Deloitte UK, Samsung, London Business Angels, Barclays, Wayra, and many more.
Five winners will each receive a prize fund including one year Cambridge Wireless Founder Membership and a free exhibition table and one delegate pass for the 2018 Cambridge Wireless International Conference. Other prizes are yet to be announced.
Discovering Start-Ups is a competition bringing together industry expertise and offering assistance to new-start technology companies. Start-ups from around the UK are invited to enter and pitch their enterprise to a panel of judges, where they will have the opportunity to win a selection of prizes to help boost their new business.
The 2017 competition takes place in October 2017 in London. It provides a platform for entrepreneurs to pitch their start-ups to investors, venture capitalists and global corporate leaders.
Although there are no specific exclusions cited within the programme guidelines, those wishing to apply are advised to liaise with the sponsor in the first instance to discuss eligibility.
This competition is open to UK-based technology developers or providers of software, hardware or IT services. Entrants must be operating as a small to medium-sized enterprise (SME) and must be in their start-up phase. Entries are also accepted from small companies looking to take their business forward, design or research groups in larger companies looking to exploit technology and students or academics in education with ideas that have commercial potential.
- Own the rights to the technology.
- In the opinion of the judges, be new or clearly innovative, or represent a significant step forward in technology or in an application.
- Be suitable for further commercialisation.
Match funding is not a stipulated requirement of this programme.
The prizes should be used to help boost the progression of the winning start-up enterprises.
This is an annual programme.

Winning organisations will be notified at the drinks reception after the Pitching Competition. At least one company representative must be present to receive the prize at the drinks reception.
