Tell Social Security Scotland about a change
When telling Social Security Scotland about a change, you'll need:
- your National Insurance number
- details of the change you're telling Social Security Scotland about
- the date the change happened
You can find your National Insurance number on your:
- National Insurance card
- payslip
- P60
If you cannot find your National Insurance number, contact Social Security Scotland free.
How to tell Social Security Scotland
Online
You can use the online form to tell Social Security Scotland about changes to:
- your name, address, or contact preferences
- the hours of care you provide
- courses or training you're doing
- your employment and earnings
- your other benefits that affect Carer Support Payment
You can also use the online form:
- if you or a person you care for have a terminal illness and you want to be paid weekly in advance
- if you've started caring for an additional person and want to get Carer Additional Person Payment
By phone
Call Social Security Scotland free to tell them about any change over the phone.
The following can only be reported by phone:
- you do not have a permanent address
- you're moving to an address outside the UK
- you do not have a bank account and want to be paid in the way you have agreed with the Department for Work and Pensions
- you're reporting a change in your payment details
- you’re moving out of, or into, alternative accommodation such as a care home, hospital, rehabilitation centre, legal detention or hospice
- you're reporting a change for someone who cannot manage their own affairs and you're their appointee
- you're reporting a change to the benefits of a person you care for gets
- you want to end your award
Complete a downloadable form or paper form
You can download and complete a form to tell Social Security Scotland about any changes to:
- your name, address, or contact preferences
- the hours of care you provide
- courses or training you're doing
- your employment and earnings
- how many people you provide care for, to get Carer Additional Person Payment
