A private sector fund distributing grants to boost the operations of new and evolving small businesses that are run by young people within the Caithness and North Sutherland areas.
The fund will initially offer grants of between £100 and £5,000.
The Caithness Business Fund is intended to promote the economic growth of Caithness and North Sutherland by supporting new and existing businesses and developing their skill base to meet new challenges.
The Fund is currently supporting eligible young people or companies (partnership, firm, or other body of persons, whether corporate or unincorporated) carrying out or proposing to carry out a variety of business, undertaking or retail, commercial or industrial activity.
Excluded sectors/business activities:
- Activities having a detrimental impact on the environment
- Financial Services
- Morally or Ethically controversial activities
- Primary Agriculture (including forestry)
- Property Development
Young people in Caithness or North Sutherland who are starting a new business or developing an existing company may apply to this scheme.
Applicant eligibility criteria are as follows:
- Aged 18 - 30
- Already in business or;
- Looking to start a new business/enterprise
- Based in the Caithness and North Sutherland area
Match funding is not a stipulated requirement of this programme.
The programme will offer funding towards the cost of working capital requited to set up or grow a business or training to develop staff.
