Grants for travel and accommodation are available for any UK filmmaker that has been nominated for one of the many festivals that the scheme supports.
The grants are designed to cover the cost of travel and accommodation at the festivals so the amount will be dependent on which festival the applicant has been nominated at. Previous grants have been in the region of £100 - £1,000.
As part of the scheme the successful applicant will be entitled to an 18-month membership that will help them to:
- promote the film to festivals around the world;
- screen the film in selected London previews;
- make new contacts at quarterly networking events;
- receive priority tickets to film events; and
- travel to film festivals that they have been nominated for.
The Shorts Support Scheme helps to promote the successful applicants' short film all over the world, make new contacts within the industry and fund the travel to the festivals it’s been nominated for.
If the applicant’s short film has already been shortlisted for any of the Key Festivals supported by the scheme then they will automatically qualify to be part of it. There are over 50 Key Festivals which are supported including Toronto, Venice, Cannes and Sundance as well as some lesser known festivals.
Although are there are no restrictions stipulated in the scheme guidance, applicants are advised to contact the funding provider directly to discuss eligibility.
