Find a funeral director

This page is about planning a funeral using a funeral director. You can arrange a funeral yourself if you wish.

Funeral directors organise burials and cremations.

They have experience organising different types of funerals and can suggest ideas for you to consider. They'll deal with the cemetery or crematorium for you.

Pre-paid funeral plans or bonds

Before contacting a funeral director or making any arrangements, check whether the person had a pre-paid funeral plan or bond.

These funeral documents could be:

  • at home
  • in a bank
  • with lawyers
  • with other relatives

If you find a document about a plan or bond, contact the provider. They can tell you which funeral director to contact.

This should include a breakdown of the costs for the services you ask for.

You may want to talk to more than one funeral director so you can compare prices. There are also price comparison websites available.
