Complete a PVG application you have been sent

If you're going to do regulated role, it's a legal requirement to join the PVG scheme.

If you’re already a PVG scheme member, you may need to apply to keep your membership up to date. 

Warning

The organisation you're working with needs to start the application. You cannot apply until the organisation starts it.

How to apply

1. Check your emails for an application link

Once your organisation completes the first part of the application, you'll get an email with a link to complete the rest of the application.

2. Sign in to your Disclosure Scotland account

When you select the link you’ll be asked to sign in using ScotAccount.

If you do not have a ScotAccount you can create one using the unique link in the email. This allows you to access Disclosure Scotland services.

ScotAccount is a secure way to access public services online. It makes accessing services easier because you can use one account to sign in to different services and verify your personal information.

3. Complete the application

Once you access your Disclosure Scotland account you need to complete your application. It will show as 'Ready to start' in your account. You have 14 days to complete it, starting from when you were sent the application link.

4. Share the disclosure

Disclosure Scotland aims to process applications within 14 days. It may take longer if they need more information. You can check the progress of your application in your account.

You’ll get an email once it’s processed and you can sign in to view the disclosure. You can then share the disclosure with the organisation you’re applying with. This allows them to continue the recruitment process. You have 14 days to share it.

Offline options

If you cannot apply online, there are offline options. Contact the organisation you're applying with and ask them to start an offline application.
